Medical professionals generally have a very good level of English. As a result, much of the text that I am sent by my clients is of a high standard.
But is the standard high enough for the paper to be accepted by your chosen journal?
So that’s one thing I do: I take your paper and I improve it. I iron out the awkward phrases, anglicise the sentences influenced by German, or French or Italian or Russian (or whatever your mother tongue happens to be) and I correct the errors – grammatical, lexical and errors of punctuation.
The next thing I do: I edit your writing to make it flow. Your writing may be error free, but your style may be letting you down: nobody wants to read heavy, turgid and repetitive text. Good research does not deserve to be lost amid the mud of poor writing: it deserves to be reported using words that are clear, effective and appropriate.
Sometimes I receive research papers where the standard of English is not high. My tasks remains the same, although it will take longer and there will certainly be more grammatical and lexical editing needed.
I use the tracking facility in Word so you can see exactly what has changed. You retain complete control and can decide whether to accept or reject my edits.

I charge by the hour, not by the page or by the word.
My experience tells me that it works well for most people because it’s clear. And very quickly clients are reassured that I work quickly, my quotes are accurate, and there are no surprises.
Upload four pages of text and I’ll send you a MAXIMUM quote within 24-hours based on the number of pages and the amount of work needed. What this means is that you will not pay more than this amount and you could pay less.
To give you some kind of guide – and it is a guide – I usually need around 15 minutes to edit one page of competent medical English.
That’s usually about 4 pages in an hour. Sometimes I can edit 5 pages in an hour. Sometimes 3.
So that means that an edit of a competently written 10,000 paper, of around 22 pages, could take between 4-6 hours.

Editing book-length works and theses
As a guide, a text 15,000 words long usually takes around 8-12 hours to edit.
Please note that edits of theses take longer and full details of services and tariffs will be sent with the quote.
The price includes a second and final read-through.

New client? The first time we work together, I will return half of your paper with my invoice. As soon as my invoice is settled, I will send the completed paper. Thereafter, you will be an existing client and be invoiced on completion.
